Reading Educational Assistance Ponies (R.E.A.P.)
R.E.A.P. is Brady's equine-assisted literacy program, designed to help children build reading skills, confidence, and a positive relationship with learning.
For many children, challenges such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and other social-emotional needs can make reading feel stressful or overwhelming. Our gentle ponies provide a calm, non-judgmental presence that helps children relax, focus, and engage.
During each session, children interact safely with the ponies while reading stories, playing literacy-based games, and participating in hands-on learning activities. The ponies' quiet attentiveness creates a pressure-free environment where children feel more comfortable practicing new skills and taking on challenges.
When appropriate, staff incorporate activities that strengthen key literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, decoding, letter recognition, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
By combining the joy of animals with the power of reading, R.E.A.P. helps children build confidence, improve literacy skills, and discover that learning can be both fun and rewarding.
