Reading Educational Assistance Ponies (REAP)

REAP is an Equine Learning Program that addresses literacy. ADHD, Depression, Autism and other social—emotional issues often get in the way of learning. Brady is working with several local educators to assist young readers to achieve reading and math fluency through fun and motivating equine-assisted activities. Students safely interact with the ponies, usually sitting or standing next to them, while using books and games. Volunteers and staff use props to identify barriers and teach critical reading skills, including phonemic awareness, decoding, letter knowledge, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
